Ch. 4 – Opener
As stated in the introduction to this course, I will not attempt to teach you how to be funny. This chapter is as close to doing that as I will get. I will try to convey to you some subtle habits that will help you deliver a better performance. In essence this chapter will teach you how to become funny. It will sharpen your sense of what makes a joke work better or not fall flat from a performance and delivery perspective, not from a writing perspective. Sure, I will go over some basic joke structure, but applying those structures to your material to create a body of work is your job as a comedian and no one else’s.
