Ch. 3 – Opener
If a career in comedy were a marathon, a notebook would be the footwear. Sure you could run a race without it but doing so is needlessly painful and not advisable. By extension, writing in that notebook without a creative process is like running that same race in bunny slippers. Sure its marginally better, but its just about as practical as no shoes at all. The ability to assemble an idea into a premise and punchline and then into a longer bit is a huge part of what makes someone a good comedian. Not just the delivery, timing. and finesse. If you don’t hone this talent you’ll essentially be shooting shots in the dark rather than making steady progress.
