This type of producer does not have to book the lineup, run promotion, or pay the talent… A Comedy Carousel executive producers will handle everything behind the scenes. CP’s will however need to have their own sound equipment or be willing to pick one up as the primary role of a co-producer is that of logistics and insurance. It’s their duty to be the grease preventing friction between performance and venue by preparing the room and performing systems checks on the day of the show. Their secondary role is filling in as host or performer if the show has a dropout or someone gets lit early and cannot be offset by the headliner.

Executive Producers
To qualify you must have at least five (5) years of comedy experience, three (3) years of production experience, basic graphic design skills and pass the production, promotion, and corporate policy exams. Executive producers are in charge of overseeing the booking, promotion, and financing of multiple Comedy Carousel shows in their region. They decide whether to hire Solo Promoters, Road Crew, and Equipment Specialists, as well as work closely with venue reps and co-producers to execute their assigned productions smoothly. Though it’s recommended that executive producers visit a venue at some point, they are not required to attend the events they manage. After an EPs has booked lineups and scheduled the ad campaigns for a show (up to three months in advance), they become eligible to take on other available shows. There is theoretically no limit to the number of shows an EP can manage however the same cannot be said of the co-producers they rely on. This forces EPs to work with new co-producers as they take on new projects and distribute the workload evenly to the people that are equally qualified and substantially more available.
Term: Limited Two Year or Extended Five Year Contracts
Eligibility: Open to co-producers with three fulfilled contracts.
Pay: 65% stake in all managed shows.

Think of regional co-chairs as senators. They represent the interest of all comedians and producers in their region and work to ensure the upward mobility of their constituency.
Term: 15 month election cycle. Maximum 5 year limit. Can be recalled by 3/4th’s majority of co-producers.
Pay: NONE, this is largely an administrative position designed to mitigate disputes and enforce standards.
Benefits: All-inclusive travel benefits to participate in annual retreats and support from CC’s legal team.
Informal Positions
Not every position requires a long-term formal agreement, some consist of a one-time or short-term agreement designed to achieve a specific outcome. From time to time Comedy Carousel implements these special agreements in the form of referral bonuses and bounties for specific needs such as promotion, venue acquisitions, equipment rentals, and logistical support. Some positions might be putting up posters and dropping tickets at hotels while other will conducting venue reconnaissance, loaning out equipment, or simply providing transportation for performers and gear. You will only find informal positions associated with the presence of official CC production managed by both an executive producer and one or more co-producers. These positions are a great way to get involved without the long-term commitment of a formal position. Informal positions include; Solo Promoter, Venue Scout, Equipment Specialist, and Road Crew.
Solo Promoters
Like any business Comedy Carousel needs to get it’s name out there and there’s no better way to do that than aggressive marketing campaigns designed to put “asses in seats”. Promoters will be given a monthly allowance of marketing materials personalized with their unique coupon codes to distribute as they see fit. Solo promoters earn up to 90% of the revenue from tickets purchased with their respective code. Solo promoters that establish strong relationships with executive producers have the highest long-term income potential of any informal position.
Term: Show by show basis.

Pay: Up to 90% stake of all revenue directly generated by their promotional efforts.
Benefits: Every year the top SPs are offered a lucrative position on the MayHem Festival‘s marketing team.

Registered scouts will be sent personalized business cards as well as a weekly “hot-list” of local address. Venue scouts will be paid a bounty for each venue data set collected, as well as earn a 50% door stake for the first 5 shows. Outside venues (not on a hot-list) will not yield a bounty, however the scout will still earn their door stake. Effective venue scouts have the highest short-term earn potential of any informal position due to their large initial % of door near unlimited number of new venues to scout.
Term: Two week deadline bounty.
Pay: Bounty + 50% stake of all revenue generated for the first 5 shows at that venue.

When we need production assets in a pinch, someone gets paid. Whether it’s renting out their equipment to us or repairing our broken equipment, loading in or just making a hand-off to a co-producer… equipment specialists provide a vital service to our growing organization and we absolutely love them. Savvy equipment specialists enjoy the most consistent income and lowest logistical burden of any informal position.
